Our Story

Michael and his wife, Jennifer, have been members of Holy Cross since 2019. They were welcomed and felt at home immediately. Previously they attended St. John's Episcopal Church in Montgomery. Michael believes it is an honor to be on the Vestry, and it is another avenue to allow him to be in service to Christ, our Savior. Michael and Jennifer have two beautiful children who keep the nursery busy on Sundays. Michael has worked in long-term care for the last 17 years, as the Director of Human Resources at a Birmingham nursing facility. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, reading, and weekly he attends small groups of study with others to learn, grow, and further the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).

Cindy along with husband Bill and daughter Becky became members of Holy Cross in 2014 after moving to Trussville from Vestavia. They were past members of All Saints in Homewood and Church of the Ascension in Vestavia. The Wester family knew they had found their church home as soon as they visited Holy Cross, and have been active members ever since. Cindy enjoys working with our Landscape Group maintaining Holy Cross grounds and is a member of ECW, Flower Guild, and our Finance Committee. She also volunteers with Bible study and other ministries at The Lovelady Center. The Wester family loves the worship and fellowship at Holy Cross along with the many opportunities within the parish and community to serve Christ for the Glory of God!

Carol Crews has worked in the banking industry for 24 years and has been a member of Holy Cross since 2016. She attends the 10:30 service and serves as both crucifer and LEM. Carol enjoys attending ECW functions whenever she can and sharing fellowship with her church family.

Inga was born in the Norwood neighborhood of Birmingham and raised in Homewood. She attended Auburn University and graduated March, 1969. Inga and Mark married March 21, 1970. They have two children, daughter Betsy (who is married to Ty Rogers, with three boys - Rhys, Sean & Rhett) and son Bubba (really John). Inga and Mark moved back to Alabama after Hurricane Katrina with 29 years of enjoying New Orleans. They joined the Church of the Holy Cross 2007 or so. Found my home.

James, his wife Christina, and daughter Gracen moved to Trussville in 2017. James is a retired State Trooper Captain, and now works as a private contractor in Emergency Management, helping corporate clients prepare for, and recover from, the impacts of critical incidents. James enjoys serving as a volunteer at Holy Cross by taking care of the lawn and maintenance projects around the church. Prior to his election to the Vestry, James served as treasurer for the parish.

Jonathan Williams, Altar Guild member, Flower Guild member, Choir member, to mention some of the ways he is committed to providing Holy Cross with the many functions it needs to best serve parishioners like you. Being a convert to the Episcopal Church, Jonathan is deeply intrigued by the theology, spirituality, and beauty of worshiping in the Anglican tradition. Rooted in the traditions of being a Rite I attender, he is devoted the traditions and language of the church, yet still celebrates the different ways we can worship and look forward to an ever developing, loving, and affirming Episcopal church for the LGBTQ community as a member of it. Jonathan looks forward to what he can provide the church in whatever capacity he can serve.

Skip, and his wife Marsha, have been members of Holy Cross since 2022. They both found the congregation to be very friendly and welcoming when they first visited in 2021. Skip is a retired medical administrator who worked for 30 years at UAB. Skip and Marsha enjoy working in the Holy Cross vegetable garden and helping the Landscape Committee as needed. Skip enjoys being a Holy Cross delivery driver for Meals on Wheels and being a lector on Sunday mornings. Skip and Marsha have a son and daughter, and two beautiful granddaughters.

I have been a member of Holy Cross since moving to Birmingham in 1999. I have been a member of the Vestry, serving as both Jr. and Sr. Warden. I have served as the Treasurer on two occasions. I have enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher and helping with Vacation Bible School. I have also served as a Crucifer and LEM. I work for Smile-A-Mile, a nonprofit serving children with cancer and their families. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my son and daughter-in-law and my 2 precious grandchildren. Holy Cross is a group of people that love the Lord and each other. I consider it an honor to serve as a Vestry member again.

Thomas has been a member of Holy Cross for over 10 years, and been in Trussville 13 years. He's served on the vestry once before, and was active in Cursillo, and the Friday morning men's Bible study. He also serves as crucifer/ server for the 8 o'clock traditional service. Thomas enjoys good coffee, old cars, and long walks on the beach.

My name is Edra Perry. My family has been members of Holy Cross since 1995. I am married to Robert and have two children, Davis, and Kaylee Rose. I am a retired Trussville City Schools teacher and now full time Trussville realtor. I have taught Sunday School at Holy Cross and now volunteer on the Alter Guild committee. Holy Cross has always been home to me. I love everything about my church, especially the memories of my children growing up at Holy Cross.
